The Platform Drive host Martin Devlin chats with Winter Olympic Games gold medallist Nico Porteous.

Porteous made history as the first New Zealand male and second Kiwi overall to win a Winter Olympics gold earlier this year in Beijing, when he took out the men’s free ski halfpipe title.

The 20-year-old has also enjoyed success at the Winter X-Games in Aspen – snow sports’ pinnacle event – with two golds and a bronze to his name.

Porteous talks about his achievements on the world stage at such a young age and his journey to get there, as well as going in-depth on that gold medal-winning final run in Beijing just over a month ago.

Porteous reveals what it is like competing in a sport with a huge following in other parts of the world, but continues to struggle in New Zealand compared to our major codes like rugby and cricket.

Martin Devlin is a veteran New Zealand radio and television broadcaster.
